Scholarship Winners

The three (3) Grade 8 students in the school who rank the highest in terms of; 1. attains high standing in Grade 8 English 2. has shown outstanding leadership within the school using effective communication 3. participates in and contributes to the general life of the school through positive attitude and a sense of humour

The recipients will be determined by a selection committee comprised of the principal of Milverton Public School and the Grade 8 teachers prior to June 20 annually. Upon determination of the recipients, their names will be forwarded by the Milverton Women’s Initiative Committee to the Coordinator Development for Public Affairs and Community Relations at the Avon Maitland Board of Education.

Three (3) awards that total $ 700 each will be presented annually. The funds will be held in trust for a maximum of ten years.

Students who are enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution (college or university) should provide proof of enrollment to the Avon Maitland Board of Education Office in order to collect their scholarship. For those students, who choose to further their education or career by means other than attending a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution, (e.g. apprenticeship, starting their own business, taking full time jobs, joining the military, etc.) they can access their scholarship funds by forwarding to the Avon Maitland Board of Education Office; • Receipts for tools required for employment (Including tools required for apprenticeship programs) • Receipts for continuing education training required for employment (e.g. Smart Serve program, computer training, WHIMIS training, safe food handing program, etc.) • Receipts for uniforms (e.g. work boots, safety clothing, etc.) • Confirmation from their employer that training has been provided/received. • Receipts for travel costs associated with training provided by employers

Each Scholarship winner has ten years from the date of their graduation from Milverton Public School to claim their scholarship (i.e. a winner that graduated in June 2026 has until June 2036 to claim their funds).
